The snow came, finally

Okay, so the waiting is over. The snow have finally arrived here in Norway, more than 2 month later than what I'm used to as a kid.

I've been speaking with some of my veteran colleges, and they've told me that this happend when they was a kid aswell. So I guess it comes in waves, having a couple of winters being extreme cold, and then slowly going over to a hot winters over the years, and going back to the cold couple of winters.

I guess you can say that winter definately isn't coming early for a couple of years.

But it's here now, better late than sorry. Strap on you ski boots, guys, cause now we'll go downhill!

Where is the snow? A review from Not-Snowy-Norway-Anymore.

Waking up today, knowing it`s the start if this year Christmas season, I do what I usually do and look out of the window to gaze out on the beautiful white snow.

The text continues below the picture.

Living in Norway, I´ve always had that tradition every Christmas season. With Mari, my girlfriend, in full of ecstasy, wanting to open the advent calendar and munch the chocolate, I was disappointing while gazing outside.

While looking out every season, woking up to pure white snow, I found myself staring at a cold, but not white, environment. It´s been like this for the past 3 years now.

The text continues below the picture.

I remember back in the days when me and my siblings were jumping of the 5 meter balcony at my grandparents place, down to 3 meters high snow, saving me from hitting the ground in a devastating speed. From there we had to "swim" ourself out of a labyrinth of snow, forming massive of caves for us to walk in. That´s only 15 years ago.

What have gone with the snow and this magical spirit, I wonder. Will I`ll ever experience the same as I did back in the days? And even worse, what about my future children?

I know there have been a lot of talk about what´s actually happening, and I´ve seen this natural happening de-evolve into nothing, leaving me and many other touch by this global disaster witch´ll one day hit us all.

I´m not gonna say it, I know you all know what´s the cause of this. And we need to do something.

5 Food Groups

The key to healthy eating is to enjoy a variety of nutritious food from each of the 5 food groups.
The Australian Guide to Healthy Eating displays the 5 food groups on a plate, in the proportion that you should be eating them throughout your day. If you eat a variety of foods from each of these groups, your body will receive all the nutrients and vitamins it needs to function.

Continues below the picture.
The five food groups.

Dairy
The foods in this group are excellent sources of calcium, which is important for strong, healthy bones. Not many other foods in our diet contain as much calcium as dairy foods.

Fruit
Fruit provides vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre and many phytonutrients (nutrients naturally present in plants, that help your body stay healthy.

Grain (cereal) foods
Always choose wholegrain and/or high fibre varieties of bread, cereal, rice, pasta, noodles, etc. Refined grain products, such as cakes or biscuits, can be high in added sugar, fat and sodium.

Lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts and seeds
Our body uses the protein we eat to make specialised chemicals such as haemoglobin and adrenalin. Protein also builds, maintains, and repairs the tissued in our body. Muscles and organs, such as your heart, are made of protein.

Vegetables, legumes and beans
Vegetables should make up a large part of your daily food intake and should be encouraged at every meal, including snack times. They provide vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre and phytonutrients to help your body stay healthy.

Pyura Chilensis - The Living Rock

This bizarre creature looks like a rock, can breed ITSELF, and the inside is considered a delicacy in Chile

They live off the coast on Peru and Chile.
It looks like a rock covered in molluscs.
It can breed with itself, developing organs from male to female some time after birth.
Their blood contains the metal vanadium.

Lurking in the bottom of the sea is the sea creature. It´s blending so good into the environment that´ll be an achievement itself to find it. Cause of the long developed look, benefited to hide from predators - the camouflage of a rock.

But IF you were lucky to accidentally bump into this natural looking rock, it will expose a mass of blood-red hermaphrodite creatures, witch is also known as a delicacy in the nearby Central American countries.

The look is also known as Pyura Chiliensis and belongs to the sac-like marine life, also known as sea squirts.
´Tunic´
Because it is covered in a layer - or ´tunic´ of other animal cellulose called tunicin - this creature in known as a tunicate. While playing it´s character, who would have known it had a mass of organs?
This creature in surviving underwater, doing what all ´filter feeder´does - inhales seawater, removes and feeds on the algae and micro organs living in the water, before exhaling the filtered water.

Breeding
How this weird ass stone reproduce is rather unusual. Its reproductive skill in something don't see everywhere, being born as a male and changing its gender when getting in puberty. When the breeding season comes, the creature releases its female eggs, and the males sperm, at the same time.

Vanadium
On land, we use vanadium to make steel alloys. The same metal our stone makes, and the concentration of vanadium produced is around ten million times the amount found in the surrounding seawater, and researcher are unsure on what the function this element has in this creatures.

The stone is one of the main food source for aquatic species such as the Chilean abalone, but it is also fished commercially and served in Chilean restaurants.

The siphoned are pulled from the tunic after its been prepared with a knife or handsaw. The flesh can be eaten raw, or cooked, and it can be canned or sold as strips.

Cause in the high amount of Vanadium and this element´s toxicity, the  are concerns about butting your teeth into this pile of rock.

New Li-Fi technology is 100 times faster than Wi-Fi - Light technology

A new technology called Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) promises connections up to 100 times faster than Wi-Fi. According to researchers, the new alternative technology transmits high-speed data using visible light communication, which would reach speeds of 1 Gbps, which is about 100 times faster than a standard

You can watch the introduction to this next gen technology here.

Solar cells to absorbe more light. New technology on the rise

The urge for an alternate energy source still rome us, as we use oil and other sourcers witch destroys both us and the nature.
Researchers have been working day and night trying to figure out what we could do with this problem.
And some researchers from India have just developed a new and better way in absorbing energy through solar panels.
The previous solar panels were able to absorb ut to 21.5% of the suns energy, with the disturbing factors as dust, coulds etc.

Watch their video here.
